Chat Compatibility

Finals provides the standard chat resource API. Avoid running a competing chat UI/provider.

Setup

Start finals_UI before scripts calling exports.chat. Review the stock chat ensure and any other chat provider before disabling them. Fully restart so the provider and all callers load together.

Lua
Config.Chat.enabled = true
Config.Chat.openKey = 'T'
Config.Chat.maxMessages = 80
Config.Chat.fadeTimeout = 7000
Config.Chat.suggestionLimit = 6

History/suggestion/fade limits are server-controlled. The dashboard adjusts input/history layout where permitted. Arrow Up/Down recalls submitted command history; suggestions are separate.

Existing scripts

Messages, suggestions, templates and compatible hooks/modes are supported. Example client calls:

Lua
exports.chat:addMessage({args={'Server','Welcome to the city.'},color={34,211,238}})
exports.chat:addSuggestion('/garage','Open your garage')
TriggerEvent('chat:addMessage',{args={'Radio','Meeting at the workshop.'}})

Use your server's actual message commands and permissions. Bespoke chat resources may require their own adapter.

Troubleshooting

No such export addMessage in resource chat usually indicates a caller starting before the provider, or another provider conflicting. Check ensure order/duplicates and fully restart. If typing stops, close other focused NUI resources and check for a third-party focus capture.
